I have to warn you, this post will be super long. But I will try to summarize. Maybe I will split into few parts. Stay tuned.
HATYAI DIARY
- June & November 2011 -
Two little words to describe all my Hatyai trips: Food, Massage. It was only a day trip. To go to Hatyai, the cheapest root is by van. It will take approximately 4 Hours each there and back. Also depends on the traffic. Holiday season would definitely be longer. You will have to fill in arrival/departure form before crossing the Thai borders. Once I reach Hatyai, the first meal/dessert will be Swensen’s ice cream! They’re good and cheap compared to my home country, Malaysia. What I love about Thailand is their 7elevens! They sell a lot of chilled take away food (Basil rice, sandwiches, rice burgers, sausages etc.) which you can heat it up in their microwave. Oh! And I love their range of POCKY sticks (their flavour ranges from green tea, banana, milk, choc, strawberry, blueberry etc.). It is so different from our Malaysian 7elevens. To travel around Hatyai, you can ride the Tut-tut car.
You should try their local delicacies like street food, som tam (shredded unripen papaya salad. It’s the bomb!), minced pork with basil leaves, TOMYAM soup (a must!). They have cheap seafood too. MCD Pork Burger is a must too, as my home country Malaysia MCDs do not serve non-halal food (pork free). I managed to visit the normal morning markets but not the floating market.
