SOMETHING RUSTIC AT SEKEPING VICTORIA

"I've always loved the rustic, slightly worn style of Canvas and
that element of an artisanal hand. It's inherently chic."
                                                                            - Jason Wu

Sekeping Victoria is a café and also a bed & breakfast. It is located at Victoria Street, Georgetown (opposite China House, The Canteen side). I like the outlook of the place. Huge space, cracked walls making it a rustic look, very hipster. Their bed & breakfast room is really nice and cosy. The room has no walls for privacy, just glass walls and doors. As for their café downstairs, they have all sorts of materials used as tables and chairs from metal stools, to couches made of steel, and even antic wooden stools used as tables.

The whole place just gives out a good vibe. Drinking coffee in a cool rustic place. Hipster much.

A CUPPA AT COFFEA COFFEE

"Kindness is like coffee,
it awakens your spirit and improves your day.
Fill your cup with both."
                                                                                - The Quotepedia

One of my favourite coffee places to go to. Coffea Coffee has just started operating in Penang for about a few months ago and is located @ Automall, Karpal Sing Drive. I loved the KL branch so when it finally came to Penang, I was ecstatic!

My two favourite drinks to order every time I come here is Peanut Butter Latte and Chocolate Coolist *with coffee shot added. Their Peanut Butter Latte is really good. It costs RM12.50 a cup. It tastes like chocolate milk with peanut butter. Yum! I may be bias as I am a peanut butter lover myself. As for the Chocolate Coolist, I prefer it with coffee as it balances out the sweetness making it bittersweet. If you love coffee you should give it a try. If I'm not mistaken, the cost with added coffee is around RM14.50.

This coffee joint has really good range of coffee beans. I have tried their Iced Americano once. They gave 2 types of coffee beans to choose from: Maestro (strong full-bodied blend) and Madonna (aromatic slight-acidity blend). I chose Madonna and I liked the acidity.

As for their food, I have not eaten much there. I go mainly for the coffee. So far I've tried their Matcha Tofu Cheesecake, Oreo Cake, Peanut Butter Cake. They all taste not bad. Overall, I really love this place. The ambiance is very inviting, warm and cozy.  Such a chic coffee joint!

DIY PHOTO FRAME

"When life gives you hands, make handmade."

I am a huge fan of Pinterest. You can get any ideas from there. From DIY, to Shopping, to Travelling, to Decorative, and other interesting tips! Since I had a colleague's birthday coming up, I decided to make a DIY photo frame! And of course, the basic idea design was from Pinterest! I brought the idea up to my other colleagues and they loved the idea. We decided to make it as a decoration for our colleague's new car.

So here is how it looks like (front and back):

We stole her car keys and hung the hanging photo frames in her rear-view mirror ;)

 Materials needed:
- Photographs (The photos are going to permanently stick within the frame, so choose wisely!)
 - decorative papers (for the front frame)
- double sided tape
- drawing utensils
- string (length of string depends on how long you want to hang and how many frames you want to have)
- decorative clips/pegs

Step 1: Take some decorative papers and measure the width of the photographs to view through the frame. You will need to have a few frames to combine them back-to-back. Make sure to include the measurement of the frame to hold the photograph (As pictured below).

Step 2: Measure the width of the frames. It is up to you whether you want a thick frame or a thin frame.

Step 3: Cut out the frames and stick the photographs. (I have 4 frames cut out so there will be 2 sets)

Step 4: Stick 1 set of the photos back-to-back with double sided tape, which you want it to be hung as the bottom frame (DO NOT stick the other set of frames which will be hung as the top frame).

Step 5: Take a string and tie on 1 decorative clip/peg. Tie on the middle part of the string. Use the end of the remaining string and tie on the other clip/peg (This is so you can hang 1 set at the top and 1 set at the bottom).

Step 6: Clip that 1 set of the back-to-back frame at the bottom (Reminder: there is the other set which the frames are not stuck together yet).

Step 7: Now you need to stick the 2nd set of photos back-to-back with double sided tape BUT with the middle part of the string stuck in between the 2 photo frames. Make sure the top clip/peg is exactly at the right position to clip the frame before fully sticking the middle part of the string in between the 2 photo frames.

And you're done!

Simple and easy right? Hope you enjoy making DIY projects as much as I do! Good Luck!

ECOWORLD STARLIGHT 2015 NEW YEAR CONCERT TOUR

"A live concert to me is exciting because of all the electricity that is generated in the crowd and on stage. It's my favorite part of the business, live concerts."
                                                                                            - Elvis Presley

EcoWorld Starlight New Year Concert was great! This happened only recently last month in Penang SPICE Arena (PISA). The fact that Wang Leehom was going to perform was the reason why I attended the concert in the first place. Although I do not understand a word of Chinese, I do recognize some of his famous old songs during the good old days in school, where all my school friends will sing-a-long to Leehom's song lyrics which made me end up remembering some of the lyrics. Haha. He is so damn good looking to watch which makes it all the better! I went together with Yi Fei, since we had free VVIP tickets! Also, because he likes Leehom too :)

EcoWorld was sponsoring the whole event as a celebration of a New Year. If you guys haven't heard about EcoWorld, they are a property developer in Eco development. They have invited other celebrities to perform too. The first performance was by Daniel Craven, world-class illusionist. Second performance was by a local Malaysian singer-songwriter, Najwa Latif. The third was by Melody Tan, "The Voice" China finalist. And last was by Wang Leehom. I missed Daniel Craven's illusion performance. I was busy waiting in line for almost 40 minutes to order my irresistible and favorite fried mushrooms as a snack.

Najwa Latif performance was normal, but I still cheered for her to support! Melody Tan was really pretty and has an incredible voice. Her opening performance was singing "Let It Go" from the movie Frozen. Her other songs were both English and Chinese songs. And my long awaited performance was by Wang Leehom! And wow, he was even better in a live performance! The crowd was overwhelming, cheering and screaming. The stage lighting was awesome too! Well, I will let the photos and videos do the talking.

Here are the videos I managed to take: (the videos are bits and pieces due to limited space for uploading videos) :(

This song he collaborated with Avicii

This video was him performing one of our Malaysian song "Getaran Jiwa"

This video was him performing one of his old songs which I could still remember some chinese lyrics

His very last performance of the night, my favourite song of his, ending with fire sparklers and confetti shooting!

VALENTINE, NEVER LEGO MY HEART

"The best thing to hold onto in life is each other"
                                                                               - Audrey Hepburn

Happy Valentine's Day Everyone!

A day to celebrate love, a day for everyone! Not just for couples, it is also for those single people out there too. Every individual deserves this day, to celebrate the love for your family, friends, and.... including your own self!

Rather than going for a proper Valentine's dinner (their set dinner prices are so overrated), Yi Fei and I had a quiet little Valentine's tea date at Coffee Elements @ All Seasons Place, Air Itam, Penang. I have been going there quite frequent recently. Love their homemade soup! First time trying their soup as their soups are always sold out. Their soup of the day was Cream of Broccoli. Yum! Also tried their Apple-berry Walnut Bircher Muesli. Good, but really filling. Appropriate to share with a group of friends.

I got him some Lego minifigures which I build myself from the LEGO Shop "Build Your Own Minifigures" as a Valentine's gift. I tried to make a "Me & You" LEGO pair. Haha. Cliche right? I had to make three minifigs in order to buy it. So I made one of me, one romantic version of him, and a gamer version of him (he really is a gamer).

Ps: Chopped my hair short prior to Chinese New Year! Trying something new!

PAMPER YOURSELF: CRABTREE & EVELYN, LONDON

"Don't forget to reward yourself every now & then.
A little bit of self pampering never hurt anyone."
                                                                                        - The Quiet Rabbit

Sorry, I have disappeared for a while. Had to return my work laptop as the office decided to convert to Desktop. How inconvenient, and Yes, I do not own a personal laptop. But I'm getting one for myself very soon! Wondering how I'm updating my blog right now? Well, surprise surprise... Out of nowhere my office decided to unblock blog websites? I just found out today. Hahaha. They still block Youtube, Pinterest, anything social network related. Just a thought, is Pinterest a social network though?

Anyway, back to the main topic of this post. I shall talk about some self pampering time with Crabtree & Evelyn ® London. Yi Fei gave me a Vanity Case from Crabtree & Evelyn for Christmas, he wanted give me some self pampering. Thanks babe, I LOVE it! The beauty case is so vintage!

If you're wondering what is in the Vanity Case, it contains the collection of Caribbean Island Wild Flowers Verbena and Lavender:
1. Body Wash 300ml
2. Body Lotion 300ml
3. Hand Therapy 100g
                4. Perfume Eau D Toilette 100ml

As I have quite sensitive skin to strong fragrance body washes, I had doubts whether I could use the body wash. I've decided to give it a try, and my sensitive could handle it! I guess my body can handle natural ingredient fragrance body washes instead of those chemical fragrance body washes. I really like the entire collection as the fragrance smells sweet and fresh! I'm so in love with the smell! As Fragrantica.com describes  Crabtree & Eveyln new fragrance, "the fragrance with the scents of Caribbean islands, sea and sun". You can go to Crabtree & Evelyn website here see the full list of their collection.

I must say, my boyfriend has great taste in body fragrances! That must be why I love his collection of men colognes :D

SEMI-FINE DINING AT ROUTE 9

"Fine dining is an occasional treat for most people"
                                                                                             - Rene Redzepi

Route 9  is located at Bishop Street, Georgetown, Penang (right next to Central College). This place is one of the few semi-fine dining places that I like to eat at. The food here is not bad. I like the way they present their food in a fine dining manner. Maybe that's why I called it a semi-fine dining restaurant. I like the interior in this place. Love their paintings!

All of their food is ala carte. However, you have choice to make them as a set lunch / set dinner. You can either add on RM2.00 for a glass of Peach Tea / Ice Lemon Tea and ice cream for dessert; or add on RM6.00 for a bowl of Mushroom Soup, a glass of Peach Tea / Ice Lemon Tea and ice cream for dessert.

My favourite dish to order is the Milky Oat Chicken (RM15.90 ala carte). It is deep fried chicken coated with cereal, milky sauce and honey, served with mashed potatoes and daily fresh vegetables. I love their milky sauce with honey! So good! Their Basil Pesto with Grilled Fish (RM15.90 ala carte) is also not bad. It is grilled fish with basil pesto, mashed potatoes and daily vegetables. For their add on Mushroom Soup, the soup is not bad as it does not consist of corn flour like other restaurants serves. I like mushrooms in general so anything made out from mushrooms is good to me. Their add on ice cream which comes with an espresso shot (making it like a semi affogato) however, I do not like it due to the espresso shot is too watery. Watery espresso shot with ice cream is not a good combination.
Overall, I like the food here. The food here can beat James Foo Western Food anytime! Though it is more expensive here, I'd rather pay more for better food. So yes, I live to eat.
