"When life gives you hands, make handmade."
I am a huge fan of
Pinterest. You can get any ideas from there. From DIY, to Shopping, to Travelling, to Decorative, and other interesting tips! Since I had a colleague's birthday coming up, I decided to make a DIY photo frame! And of course, the basic idea design was from
Pinterest!
I brought the idea up to my other colleagues and they loved the idea. We decided to make it as a decoration for our colleague's new car.
So here is how it looks like (front and back):
We stole her car keys and hung the hanging photo frames in her rear-view mirror ;)
Materials needed:
- Photographs (The photos are going to permanently stick within the frame, so choose wisely!)
- decorative papers (for the front frame)
- double sided tape
- drawing utensils
- string (length of string depends on how long you want to hang and how many frames you want to have)
- decorative clips/pegs
Step 1: Take some decorative papers and measure the width of the photographs to view through the frame. You will need to have a few frames to combine them back-to-back. Make sure to include the measurement of the frame to hold the photograph (As pictured below).
Step 2: Measure the width of the frames. It is up to you whether you want a thick frame or a thin frame.
Step 3: Cut out the frames and stick the photographs. (I have 4 frames cut out so there will be 2 sets)
Step 4: Stick 1 set of the photos back-to-back with double sided tape, which you want it to be hung as the bottom frame (DO NOT stick the other set of frames which will be hung as the top frame).
Step 5: Take a string and tie on 1 decorative clip/peg. Tie on the middle part of the string. Use the end of the remaining string and tie on the other clip/peg (This is so you can hang 1 set at the top and 1 set at the bottom).
Step 6: Clip that 1 set of the back-to-back frame at the bottom (Reminder: there is the other set which the frames are not stuck together yet).
Step 7: Now you need to stick the 2nd set of photos back-to-back with double sided tape BUT with the middle part of the string stuck in between the 2 photo frames. Make sure the top clip/peg is exactly at the right position to clip the frame before fully sticking the middle part of the string in between the 2 photo frames.
And you're done!
Simple and easy right? Hope you enjoy making DIY projects as much as I do! Good Luck!
